What is happening
As part of our ongoing reviews and improvements to security, we will be turning off support for both TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 on Monday 16th April, 2018.
What is TLS
Transport Layer Security (TLS) is the protocol that provides secure communication when transporting data to payroll.
Why are we disabling TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1
TLS 1.0 supports the now outdated SSL protocol, so to ensure the privacy and integrity of your data is maintained we will be disabling support for this protocol.
TLS 1.1, while still secure, has had improvements to its security algorithms in verision 1.2 and, as a result, we will only be supporting TLS 1.2 and above.
Who does this impact
This change potentially impacts users of the web application, WorkZone and API integrations.
All modern browsers / operating systems support TLS 1.2 so the impact for users of the web application should be minimal.
If you receive a connection error while trying to communicate with the application, you should ensure that your browser or application is up to date.
For API integrations written in .NET, please refer to this StackOverflow article that describes how to enable TLS 1.2: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/33761919/tls-1-2-in-net-framework-4-0/37842828
